EUROPE, MG – So my short story 'Coral Spawning' finished 7th place at the 2021 Mensa HungarIQa Writing Contest which is a boost for me as this was the very first time that I have published something that can be seen as strictly literature!
Okay, I hade quite a few blog posts that can be viewed as literature-ish or borderline literature but it's different if you know that it's about something else and write for a totally different audience.
Anyway, finishing in the top 10 out of 64 pieces I regard as a worthy effort and a bit of a positive feedback pushing me down further my journey of becoming a writer.
In the meantime, I jumped into the project I wrote about the last time and that I gave 'The Journey' as a working title – as it will be not only a story of a magical journey but also my way of becoming a writer. (I have also updated the Worx section of the site accordingly.)

Since it's research phase, I acquired a bunch of books and recovered my relevant university notes that help me bringing up and gaining a lot of knowledge. I don't remember the last time when learning and working was this much fun, as basically every new information contributes to the story some way.
The major plot and structure is starting to take shape, and now I am getting deeper into the research in order to make the whole story, the characters and the world coherent and keeping within the boundaries of the belief system of the early medieval Norsemen.
I don't call them Vikings on purpose, as viking was rather a lifestyle of some of the Norsemen than the name of a people or an ethnic group. Eventually I may have to use the term for marketing purposes but I will avoid that wherever I can and use it properly.
Even though it looks like that I am strictly pragmatic and technical, meaning boring, the end product will be way closer to a fantasy than a historical novel and I am committed to make it fascinating. I know it's a bold attempt, but there is a saying that such an attempt is half success...
