Wow, a lot have happened in the space of 50 days

EARTH, MWG – I am proud to say that the site is actually about to be published now. I worked on this a few hours today and I believe it's in a proper shape so it is time.

And why the 50 days delay? Well, right after I finished my short story for the writing contest, I thought that I rather do another one as every author was permitted to enter two pieces. Then one thing led to another...

The Cold Dark Within

As personal and real as the first short story was, as fictional and far-fetched the second one became for the 2021 Mensa HungarIQa writing contest. For this, I picked the new project I started to work on: the background story for the upcoming album of the black metal band Vég. A 3D, doomed, depressing and dark science fiction, even its title as it was named The Cold Dark Within ('Absolute Darkness' in the Hungarian version).

After completing the 1,000-word long Hungarian version for the contest I also created a richer version in English to inspire the band members working on the music for the album (I think it will be titled The Cold Dark Within too). An edited version is planned to be released on the website – ideally I would wait for the album to be released first but I feel that I won't have the patience to wait for the band to finish it.

The Cold Dark Within may also serve as the basis of a future sci-fi novel or series as developing the world I came up with a lot of interesting stuff including a unique way to handle interstellar travel that I want to tell about.

Divine Fantasy

And similarly to this one, I also jumped into another project in the meantime. I call it Divine Fantasy ('Divine Roleplay' in Hungarian) at the moment as it will be a fantasy comedy. I just had the idea first to play around with fantasy cliches a bit but eventually a few interesting characters have emerged, a villain that I really like and with the story developing the way it does I may be promoting him to a villain protagonist role. I came up with a fun take on religion so it will be a lot of fun to play with.

And back to the writing contest for a bit because I thought it would be a great idea to use the first short story, the more personal one I wrote for this purpose as the basis of a screenplay. It just started to unfold with a series of scenes pouring out with dialogue I really like. I have never thought of myself as one who writes great dialogues but I have been really enjoying writing them and I want to keep on doing it a lot!

Prince Wasteland

I also went back to my big pseudo-medieval fantasy worldbuilding, calling Prince Wasteland for working title, to create some new tribes and cultures: a continental and a maritime one. A variation of the firstly created mythology is also being developed as the continental culture is related to the nordic one I came up with in the first place. This continental culture is important as it will have a significancy in the novels, while I am actually thinking about creating a whole other cycle in the maritime setting.
